carson says...

kids say the funniest things. i just love hearing explanations and arguments of all kinds from carson. he seriously kills me! just this morning, as we were driving to preschool, he looked at me and said, "wow mom! your earrings are big!" now, if any of you know me well, you know i love, love, love, big earrings. so, naturally i was wearing my biggest ones. i said to him, "yep" and he said to me in the most animated voice, "i dreamed last night that you were wearing big earrings!! they got bigger, bigger, bigger and you loved them and they made you happy!!" i totally had to laugh! it's so true!
this evening too, we were arguing about something minute. finally he yelled, "WELL, I'M WIGHT! AND YOU'RE WONG!!" most the time he can say his "r's" but sometimes, for some reason, he doesn't. i was laughing so hard for two reasons, A)the argument was me just telling him to eat in the kitchen and he said he didn't want to...then yelled. 2)he gets heated up at the drop of a hat. so when he explodes and doesn't make sense it's hilarious!!
he topped off the night with telling me that my costume for my niece's fancy nancy party was "really cute" and saying, "yeah, yeah, wear that. that's good. let me buckle your sparkly shoes."
he's all boy, dirt, boots and all, but loves to encourage and help me when it comes to my wardrobe. maybe i'm not as stylish as i thought when my four year old has to help with my wardrobe!!!

i still got it!! 2 posts in 1 day! i AM amazing! woo!

almost everyone i know who is married, either just had a baby or is pregnant. i am not, nor do we plan to be for some time. (okay a year or two) but still, everyone has a baby!! it's nice to know i still got it!! let me splain. my brother-in-law and his wife and two daughters came over for sunday dinner. their new baby was crying for a little while and i wanted to try my hand at trying to calm her. it worked!! i totally calmed and comforted just like a well-seasoned mother!! i tried swinging and singing. but she didn't like it. however, she did love the shhhhooshing and swaying. i held her for a very long time and she slept soundly when i figured out what she liked. i felt very good about myself, especially when my sister-in-law said she had been really fussy for about the past week and a half! wow! i'm amazing!!
the amazing cherisse!
she can calm and comfort even the fussiest child!!
just kidding! it is nice to know though, that i can still calm and comfort a new baby after a year and a half. it comforted me too, not to mention made my day!

snake!! crikey!!

yesterday, jonathan, his dad and his uncle matt were using the stump grinder on a few stumps of trees they recently cut down. they were first trying to dig one of the stumps out that was rotting and was coming apart quite nicely. there was a little cavity in the stump. they were a little startled when they saw something slithering around in there. it was a snake with an egg living in this old rotted stump!! they called for me to look up what kind of snake it was. i was typing furiously to figure it out so they could quickly dispose of it if it was poisonous. it was a king snake. black and yellow striped. no biggie. but it was cause for a few minutes of frantic excitement/fear!!

creative juice {green}

on friday night, we had an adult only ward party!! it was so much fun!! it was a progressive dinner that was awesome! at the dewitt's house, our last stop and where we had dessert (yum) brett and brooke martin were trying to get people to jump into the pool for money!! ummm....hello! that has my name written all over it! brett said he'd give me $50 if i jumped in then another $50 if jonathan did!! i was so ready...jonathan said i would be walking home if i did. so, no pool. womp, womp. i'll totally still jump in the pool in a second (for money, ok for fun too)!! anyway, about the creative juice. i've been so wrapped up in so many things, i've been neglecting my idea notes and making of little crafts and treats. but after visiting a trip to the cotter's house and seeing judy's magnificently eclectic sitting room, my creative juices are flowing! (the juices i picture are green, what else?) so, after emily and steven's wedding (niece and soon to be nephew-in-law?) i will actively be trying to use up all my fabric! i think i posted this before, but i will be finishing an apron i've been working on for my sister and hopefully make one for myself (also green.) i think i will be trying to mimic a super cute one from anthropologie that my niece got today at her bridal shower. if anyone has any other cute, crafty things or patterns send them my way!
p.s. i have insomnia. anyone have any remedies?
p.p.s. anyone have anything in green; fabric, paper, buttons, etc.? i welcome your leftovers! (not forest green!!)
